Love 'em or hate 'em, Spanx are a way of life. Am I right, ladies?

Well, they're sometimes a lifesaver "thanx" to Sara Blakely, the creator of the product.

You may have heard her name, you may have not. She's DEFINITELY someone you should know and possibly one of our most-relatable WCWs to date.

Sara wanted to be a lawyer, but life happened (been there....) and she didn't pass the law school admission test. Instead, she worked odd-jobs for a few months before landing a more secure job.

The job was INCREDIBLY glamorous (sense the sarcasm)--selling office supplies door-to-door.

Blakely didn't let this bump in the road stop her. Nope, she took it and used it as fuel.

She got a promotion with the company where she needed to wear pantyhose. She loved the way they kept her "in" but hated the way they looked with sandals. BOOM. Spanx were born.

She worked tirelessly

over this product--spending thousands of dollars, years, energy--something we all know far too well.

She was told her idea was not a good one. Again, I'm sure many of you have heard the same thing.

But Blakely believed in herself and her product and after pushing and pushing and pushing for others to believe in her too, she made it.

She was determined for others to see the value in her product and never gave up. Now, she's one of the most powerful women in the world.
